SUSTAINABLE COPPICING / by Geoff Fisher

This is an area of Horton Wood in Marlow that has become overgrown with ash saplings and needs coppicing to allow the more mature ash tress to grow to their full height. This also permits sunlight to reach the woodland floor stimulating the growth of wild flowers and in a well managed woodland like this it increases biodiversity allowing other species to grow. All these saplings were cut and removed by hand so no wildlife was disturbed during the process.
